Waxen's beginnings

Fair weather made lounging in the garden that much more pleasant, a light breeze keeping the temperature moderate. She didn't often bask in the sunlight, her skin very pale and fair. Sometimes though her mood needed it and today was no exception. Waxen looked down at the small child in her arms with love and affection. A child, newly born, lay suckling at her breast, little eyes closed in concentration, little fists clenched tight.

"Slow down, little imp, I'm not going anywhere." she cooed down at the child and softly ran her hand over the fine silvery hair on the baby's head. The baby seemed placated by this and nuzzled the nipple, looking more relaxed now., suckling slowly.

"The ship will be here soon, Dear." her husbands voice, loud and booming even at a whisper, came from the babies room which overlooked her little nook. "Put her to bed and come pack for the trip." his look was slightly chastising as he had asked her to be ready hours ago.

"Alright. You heard daddy little one. It's bed time for now." the baby protested for only a second as her meal was taken away but was soon asleep and dreaming of an endless supply of milk.

Waxen walked into the bedroom, tucking her breast away and coming to the closet with a reluctant sigh. "I hate leaving her so soon." she said with a pout. Soon after she can hear her husband put down whatever her was doing and cross over to take the petite woman in his arms.

"She will be safe with my mother. We have to meet with the Captain today before the troll scouts lock down our position or our work for the last year will be for nothing. The captain promised this is the last mission for us and then you can be with our little Imp all day. Try to keep your mind on the mission." his words brought her a small bit of comfort but she would always worry for that little miracle.

Waxen remembered when the priestess told her she had conceived. Despite what the doctors said about her. She had sustained to many blasts to the abdomen, too much scar tissue and harm had effected the area. It was the price of war but still she had gotten pregnant and given birth to a baby girl. Three weeks early and sickly but she still gave birth. But the baby seemed to be getting healthier by the day. Her little survivor.

She would miss her life of constant battle but nothing else mattered now except her family. Shaking the thought from her head she leaned her cheek up towards her love and let him kiss her cheek, leaving her to pick out her armor and clothing. This would be the last time she packed as a Lieutenant for the Army of the Sin'dorei.
